for THE THREE GRUMPIES * Creative Writing Projects * Number Sets * Discussions on Feelings *Adverb Activities CURRICULUM
& DISCUSSION Pre-Reading How many of you have had a "grumpy day"?
What are some things that make you feel grumpy? What makes you feel better? Who are the characters in the story? What happens in the story to make the main character grumpy? How did the main character get rid of her grumpies? Comprehension (after reading the story) Describe in your own words what the story was about. What happened in the beginning? The middle? The end? Application Think of three things that make you feel grumpy. Share a story of a time when you were grumpy. What did you do to feel better? Analyze The Three Grumpies is a pattern type story. Can you find the pattern within it? How is the number "3" used within the storyline? Synthesize Explain the phrase, "I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning." What does it mean? Why do people say it? Were the Grumpies real, or just the main characters imagination? Evaluation Look at the last page: Do you think the Grumpies will ever come back? Why or why not? Which grumpy is your favorite? Why? Why was Mom so frazzled? ACTIVITIES
